Today at the office of State Representative Karen Boback, in Tunkhannock PA, members representing several Lyme Disease Support and Advocacy groups across the region met with State Legislators and Representatives to discuss the Lyme Disease crisis in Pennsylvania.   Topics covered included the impact of Lyme Disease on children and families across the commonwealth, the financial burden of ineffective diagnostic  and treatment options currently in place, and the details and provisions of PA Senate Bill 1199 (The Lyme and Related Tick-Borne Illnesses Education, Prevention, and  Treatment  Act) which is before the Senate with a vote expected later this year.   PA SB 1199, among other provisions, would give patients access to treatment options beyond the currently recommended 28 days of antibiotic treatment, which is not always enough to treat Lyme Disease and other Tick Borne illnessesEd.
